Why RCHRCT?

According to a recent report of WHO 85 million people will die from Cancer between 2005 and 2015 in the world. Since it is a multifaceted problem, very serious research work is going on all over the world to tackle the different aspects of the problem.
If we take a closer look at the problem, the different aspects of cancer control can be enumerated to (a) aims to reduce the occurrence, morbidity and mortality of cancer and (b) to improve the quality of life of cancer patients in a defined population. This can be achieved through a continuous and coordinated series of interventions for (a) prevention, (b) early detection, (c) diagnosis, (d) treatment, and (e) palliative care. Comprehensive process of cancer control addresses all the above to the whole population.

"Rajshahi Cancer Hospital and Research Center Trust" aims at achieving the above goals in the highly populated North - Eastern and North - Western part of Bangladesh. It is certainly a long drawn process and also demands a tremendous amount of work.
Our effort through this "Cancer Hospital & Research Centre Trust" is to establish a centre where any person can come with any symptoms and can confirm that their problem is not for cancer. In case it happens to be cancer, we can start treatment from the centre immediately
Despite cancer being a global public health problem, many governments have not yet included cancer control in their health agendas. There are other competing health problems, and interventions may be chosen in response to the demands of interest groups, rather than in response to population needs or on the basis of cost-effectiveness and affordability. Low-income and disadvantaged groups are generally more exposed to avoidable cancer risk factors, such as environmental carcinogens, tobacco use, alcohol abuse and infectious agents. These groups have less political influence, less access to health services, and lack education that can empower them to make decisions to protect and improve their own health.
Since ours is a no profit Rotary supported hospital and we accept donations for treatment of extremely poor patients, we always try to keep the cost at an affordable level.
Many people from north western parts of Bangladesh find it difficult and costly to  go to Dhaka, looking for better facilities due to financial constraints.
Our progress is slow, but we are steadily going ahead. We are happy when a patient leaves the hospital with a smiling face. We are happy because we are here “NOT TO BE SERVED BUT TO SERVE THE PEOPLE.”
